In 2018 we took part in a tremendous community effort to construct a new playground at the Voorheesville Elementary School. What started as a patio donation turned into a three-week landscaper’s challenge! From site work to tree removal, to digging holes, to hardscaping, to mulching and tree planting… we covered it all! And yes, the friendships and relationships that were made during the process definitely made it all worth it!
We are strong supporters of career and technical education. After all, skilled craftsman and women are the future of our industry! Therefore, we created the ‘Hand & Heart Award’ for the Voorheesville School District awards program. This $1,000 scholarship is intended for a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding character and achievement while pursuing a career in technical trades.
In 2017 we were asked to create a new entrance garden for the Voorheesville Village Hall. We answered and provided the labor and equipment necessary to design and install this new planting bed.
The Voorheesville Public Library asked us to take part in their Big Truck Day event. We had a great time showing youngsters our trucks and equipment. It was great watching the enthusiasm of the children and even some of the adult “kids at heart” as they ogled over the toys we get to play with every day!
The Voorheesville Elementary School students were greeted with a new entrance on their first day of school in 2018! Elemental Landscapes, Inc. was happy to donate the materials, equipment and labor required to create the design, hardscaping and softscaping. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Lysenko from Lysenko Dental for donating $2,500 toward the project and the Voorheesville School Foundation for funding the sign!
In 2016 we were asked by the Voorheesville Baseball Club to help with the grading and subbase for dugouts at the little league field at the New Scotland Town Park. We answered and provided the equipment and labor required to accomplish their goal. Felt great to enhance the same playing fields that Jerry enjoyed as a kid!
Jerry has been a member of the New Scotland Kiwanis since 2003. It is a fantastic community service group providing charitable contributions throughout our town. We have been managing the Christmas Tree Sale for over a decade. It is a great way to give back to our community each year at the end of another busy season!
Our future lies within the ambitious energy of our educated young men and women. We enjoy working with the students at SUNY Cobleskill to show them the tools and skills required within our trade. The last few years we have taught portions of their construction labs and taken them for tours of our job sites.
In 2016 we were asked to design the grounds surrounding the new Voorheesville Rail Trail Pavilion. This was another great project with generous support from the Village of Voorheesville, Voorheesville School Foundation and many other local contractors. We provided the labor and equipment required to construct the walkways entering the pavilion.
In 2015 we were given the task of dressing up the Village Community Bulletin Board. We created a low maintenance design using one of our indigenous limestone boulders and provided the labor and equipment required to install the project.
The Voorheesville Garden Committee approached Jerry about the creation of a children’s garden at the elementary school. In 2009 we provided the labor and equipment to design and construct this raised bed educational garden with many contributions from members of our community. This garden has been a tremendous success and continues to produce vegetables and smiles from our future horticulturalists!
With the entrance garden at the high school looking so good, it was really time to replace the sign. In 2013 we provided the labor, equipment and several materials to construct a welcoming sign to complement the William Childs Entrance Garden we created in 2009. We had the generous support of Dr. Lysenko from Lysenko Dental, the Jim Nichols Foundation and the Voorheesville School Foundation to help make this happen.
Every year our softscape crew donates a day worth of labor to a Voorheesville School Foundation fundraising event. This usually involves the maintenance and pruning of planting beds or sometimes involves the installation of donation trees. We are always open to the enhancement of landscapes particularly when we can help others in need!
Growing up with these programs as a kid, it only makes sense for Jerry to sponsor the Kiwanis sports program for our children. Such a great way for our kids to get outside and develop life skills!
A long-time community friend named Bill Childs lived across from the high school in our town. He was a major giver in our community through New Scotland Kiwanis and his dying wish was to dress up the entrance to the high school. We caught wind of it and worked with the Kiwanis Club and Builders Club to create the William Childs Entrance Garden in 2009.
